While we’re probably more concerned with our allergies at the moment, spring has sprung in Texas. And with the warmer temperatures, drowning deaths will unfortunately start to rise.
Did you know Texas has the most pool drowning deaths in the United States?
Nationally, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death amongst children. According to the Fort Worth Water Drowning Prevention Coalition, parents are encouraged to teach their kids about water safety – including the use of floatation devices as well as obtaining swim lessons. However, the coalition reminds parents that supervision remains the key to keeping your child safe.
The coalition states on their website: 2 seconds is too long to turn your back on a child in water.
While we hope the sneezing and sniffling gets better – and soon – we also wish everyone a safe (and fun) spring and summer in Texas.
