Dog

Earlier this month, Ed Jameson, Director of Dallas Animal Services, announced there had been a decrease in dog bites in the City of Dallas.

In 2016, there were 750 reports of dog bites, and in 2019, that number dropped to 560.  Jameson stated they are making a concerted effort to remove stray and dangerous dogs from the streets. That’s welcome news to residents of Dallas as well as postal carriers.

Each year, the United States Postal Service releases their Dog Attack Rankings by City. In 2018, the latest data reported, Dallas ranked 5th for most dog attacks while Fort Worth was 10th.

We certainly love our dogs! In fact, everyone at the Harris Firm owns at least one dog. Unfortunately, accidents occur, and children as well as adults can be bitten.

Many people may not know that homeowner’s insurance may cover damages the victim may incur as a result of a dog bite – when the dog is not owned by the victim. The Harris Firm has experience in prosecuting dog bite cases for victims of dog attacks.
