Car Accident

When North Texas gets rain, we always see an uptick in accidents. The Dallas Police Department put together some common sense guidelines for driving in the rain:

  • Traffic is likely going to be heavy, so give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination
  • Don’t forget to use your headlights
  • Drive a safe distance between you and the vehicle ahead
  • Roads can be extra slippery and dangerous so drive at or below the speed limit
  • Check your tire pressure. Over-inflated tires reduce grip. Under-inflated tires may result in serious aquaplaning
  • Make sure your windshield wipers are working properly. If needed, change them before driving in the rain

Most of these suggestions are common sense. However, we find common sense to be somewhat lacking on our roads and highways – especially in the rain – so please slow down, stay off your phone, and be alert.
