For the last 15 years, Allstate Insurance has studied safe-driving records across 200 major cities. For those of us who drive in and around Dallas, the numbers were not surprising.

On average, Dallas drivers experience a car crash every seven years – and that number places the city in the bottom 15%. Where does that rank nationally? According to Allstate, the average U.S. driver is involved in a collision every 10.5 years. And Dallas wasn’t the only city in North Texas that fell into the bottom 15%. Irving and Garland ranked lower than Big D.

Texas leads the entire country in traffic deaths. Sadly, according to the Texas Department of Transportation, at least one person has been killed on Texas roads every day for the last 19 years.
