Recently, you may have seen two different stories about children being bitten by dogs in North Texas. One child was attacked by the family pet, and a second child was attacked by a neighbor’s dog which had broken free of its leash. Both children were rushed to the hospital.

Did you know:

  • In 2016, there were an estimated 78 million dogs in the U.S.
  • Each year, over 4.5 million Americans suffer dog bites. In most cases, the dog was owned by the victim’s family.
  • The United States Postal Service, which releases a list of the top cities in the US for postal workers bitten by a dog, lists Dallas as No. 8 and Fort Worth as No. 15 of the 30 cities listed.

There is no doubt that we love our pets. We love our dogs and our kids love to play with dogs. In fact, everyone at the Harris Firm owns a dog. Unfortunately, accidents occur, and children, as well as adults, end up being bitten.

Many people may not know that homeowner’s insurance may cover damages the victim may incur as a result of a dog bite, when the dog is not owned by the victim. The Harris Firm has experience in prosecuting dog bite cases for victims of dog attacks. If you or a loved one has been bitten by a dog, please feel free to contact us at (214)956-7474 for a free consultation.
