It’s practically a rite of summer: kids operating a lemonade stand. It certainly brings back memories from our childhood, including the feeling that making seven dollars was an absolute fortune.

Back in June, we posted an article about how lemonade stands are illegal in Texas. You can find it here.  While many police officers give kids a pass, that’s not always the case.

We were excited to read that Texas Representative Matt Krause, R-Fort Worth, has filed House Bill 234 allowing kids under 18 to legally operate a lemonade stand. Krause got the idea from Country Time Lemonade which put together a program that helped kids pay for permits or fines involving lemonade stands.

According to Krause, “I really think this is a common-sense thing.” The 86th Texas Legislative Session Texas begins in Austin on January 8th and concludes on May 27th.

Here’s hoping both parties can get behind turning lemons into lemonade (stands).
