Have you ever stolen something from a hotel? An historic hotel in New Orleans is offering a free seven-night stay to the most interesting item stolen from their establishment – and returned by July 1st.

The contest is the brainchild of The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The Historic Giveback Contest has already netted some plates, stemware, a tablecloth, bud vases, faded menus and giant brass room keys. The hotel will display the returned items in window cases in the hotel lobby.

The winner of the contest receives a seven-night stay in the Presidential Suite along with free private dinners by the executive chef, and spa experiences. And if you return something and it doesn’t win the contest, they’ll send it back if you want to keep it. The hotel’s general manager, Tod Chambers told Conde Nast Traveler, “… knowing they have something that reminds them of our Roosevelt in their own homes? Well, that leaves us flattered.”

The Roosevelt has been a part of the Big Easy since 1893, and sits on Roosevelt Way between Canal and Common Streets. As you can imagine, it has undergone a number of renovations and currently features more than 500 rooms – including 100 suites.
