On May 15th, cyclists gathered all over the world for a Ride of Silence ceremony followed by a ride that honors those killed or injured while cycling on pubic roadways. Over 20 events were held across Texas, including rides in Coppell, Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Garland and Plano.

Those participating in a Ride of Silence are asked to ride no faster than 12 miles per hour, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road, and remain silent during the ride. The goal is to not only honor those killed or injured, but to raise awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways.

In 2015, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 818 fatalities among bike riders across the country. In addition, approximately 45,000 injuries were reported.

Bicycle accidents can result in extensive damages including medical bills, loss of wages, pain and suffering, and other financial burdens that can add up. If you or a loved one has been injured while riding a bicycle, please contact the Harris Firm for a free consultation. Let Harris Handle It!
