While accidents and fender benders are a common occurrence on our North Texas highways, another troubling event is taking place all too often. According to the Dallas Morning News, as of May, there have been 122 reported drive-by shootings in Dallas.
These types of headlines are not difficult to find. For instance, in early September, a man driving a silver Silverado truck was shot four times while exiting off Interstate 35 near downtown Dallas. Thankfully, he was able to pull into an Exxon gas station. Police arrived and found three gunshot wounds to his leg and one to his arm. He was taken to a hospital.
While police and community leaders point to gang and drug activity as a major cause of drive-by shootings, officials in this case believe this may have been a road rage incident. And that’s another term we’re hearing all too often.
