We have noticed a new phone scam being perpetrated around Dallas/Ft Worth.  In this particular instance, scammers are claiming to be from Oncor Electric Delivery.

The caller claims they need a replacement bank card number “to prevent your services from being disconnected today.”  They may have your name, address, your electricity provider and your account number.  Do not be fooled.  Oncor is the state’s largest transmission and distribution electric utility.  They are NOT a retail provider, so they are never going to call you and request money.

As always, one of the best protections against a phone scam is asking questions.  Hanging up the phone is also an excellent deterrent and a great way to protect your money.  If you have any questions about your electricity plan, please contact your provider directly.
