According to the Texas Department of Transportation, there were 3,773 traffic fatalities in Texas in 2016. If that sounds horribly impressive, it is. In fact, that’s a 5.4 percent increase over 2015.
Recently, 1Point21 Interactive and the Ross Law Group released a report noting the state’s deadliest highways. A two-mile stretch heading east out of Fort Worth was added to their list.
On Interstate 30, between I-35W and Oakland Blvd, there were 7.05 fatalities per mile from 2013 to 2015. Sadly, five of those fatalities occurred in a fiery crash in April 2015.
For those of you who have to take I-35, you are likely well aware of the dangers this highway presents. It is a major thoroughfare for 18-wheelers, plenty of road construction is taking place, and it’s the main artery to get to and from some of the biggest cities in the state. Indeed, 11 of the 78 deadliest stretches of highway can be found on this Interstate.
The truth is, whether you are leaving your neighborhood or utilizing one of the numerous Texas highways, accidents can happen anywhere – and at any time. We have represented clients in all types of accidents. If you have been involved in an accident, please give the Harris Firm a call for a free consultation.
