Unfortunately, it feels as though we had about two weeks of spring before summer hit Texas. And with the warmer temperatures, drowning deaths will unfortunately start to rise.
Did you know Texas has the most pool drowning deaths in the United States?
Nationally, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death amongst children. According to the Fort Worth Water Drowning Prevention Coalition, parents are encouraged to teach their kids about water safety – including the use of floatation devices as well as obtaining swim lessons. However, the coalition reminds parents that supervision remains the key to keeping your child safe.
The coalition states on their website: two seconds is too long to turn your back on a child in water.
Since many of us will be searching for a pool, the lake or the ocean for a little relief from this heat – we want everyone to have a safe (and fun) summer in Texas.
